I'm in a pivotal position as one of two full-time employees in a majority volunteer-led non-profit. We service almost 50 client companies and 2,000 individual clients, working from home, and Windows is the universal operating system among our corporate clients.

From the start, I knew I needed my computer set-up to be flexible, familiar and to be able to interface effectively with core software, or compatible equivalents, used by our clients and by our volunteer team.

Linux Mint turned out to be the right option for me, and with Mike's initial set-up assistance and ocassional ad-hoc guidance and query assistance, I have everything I need at my fingertips and now feel confident not only in using what I have but in enhancing it myself with additional software and resources.

I really have been surprised by just how user-friendly Linux is, now, and I've found that when looking for specific functionality, there is almost always an open-source version of what I need that works as well, if not better. Where there isn't, compatibility solutions exist that are tried and tested.

I now use Linux as the operating system both at work and on my home computer, which I'm using to run my art-focused side business, and I can't see myself ever choosing to go back again. No more late arrival in meetings because my operating system forced an update at a specific time. No more updates that force me to install or approve data-scraping AI. And no more hefty license costs that can otherwise stagger small businesses and start-ups!
